TOTAL GUESTS

Departing from Tromsø you will be immersed into the nature’s work of art as the Fjords are often described and head towards the highest sailable latitudes in the northern hemisphere.

Depending on weather conditions and progress we may opt to break the passage with an anchorage on Bear Island (Bjørnøya), 120 nm south of Sørkapp, Svalbard’s southern tip. We will be arriving to Svalbard during the so called “Sunny Winter” (stretching from March to mid-May) which offers unique and beautiful light conditions.

Depending on weather and icepack conditions we will be exploring either of Mijenfjorden, Groenfjorden or Nordfjorden prior to arrival at Longyearbyen, with the opportunity to sail close to wildlife – walruses, seals, whales, arctic foxes and the polar bear among others. This is likely to entice you to consider our exploration routes around Svalbard and Greenland during the polar summer, the ideal period to experience the arctic wildlife and nature.

DAY 0

  • Embarking on Varuna, welcome by the crew, checking and storage of gear, accommodation in cabins.
  • First dinner and night onboard.

DAY 1 AND OCEAN PASSAGE

  • Weather conditions, routing, organization of shifts, etc.

ARRIVAL TO DESTINATION PORT

  • Subject to weather conditions / progress towards the final destination, we may choose to an anchorage near the point of departure / arrival to get closer to the local nature.
  • Goodbyes and disembark in the morning
